About This Course

Physics is one of the core courses for science related degrees. In this lesson you will learn all the topics described in the syllabus. The lecture involve video lessons from seasoned subject including exams tips and solving past question papers.

Course Outline

  • Introduction

Learn what topics are covered in this course as prescribed by WASSCE, NECO, SSCE and Jamb.

  • Lesson 1: Concept of matter

Explore the simple structure of matter should be discussed. Three physics states of matter, namely solid, liquid and gas, Kinetic theory of matter. Also states of matter, pressure in a gas, evaporation and boiling; cohesion, adhesion and capillarity.

  • Lesson 2:Scalar and vector

Concept of scalars as physical quantities like Mass, distance, speed and time. Weight, displacement, velocity and acceleration,Use of force board to determine the resultant of two forces.

  • Lesson 3:Forms of energy, world energy resources and conservation of energy.

  • Lesson 4:Position, displacement and displacement Ways to manage student stress

Concept of position as a location of point-rectangular coordinates, measurement of distance, concept of direction as a way of locating a point –bearing, distinction between distance and displacement.

  • Lesson 5: Mass and weight

Distinction between mass and weight, kilogram (kg) as unit of mass and newton (N) as unit of weight.

  • Lesson 6:Fluid at rest

Volume, density and relative density, pressure in fluids, equilibrium of bodies. Archimedes’ principle and Law of flotation.

  • Chapter 7: Motion

Types of motion, relative motion,Cause of motion, types of force, Viscosity (friction in fluids) and Simple ideas of circular motion.

  • Lesson 8:Production and propagation of wave

Production and propagation of mechanical waves, pulsating system, wave form, types of waves and properties of waves.

  • Lesson 9:Gravitational , electricity and wave

Acceleration due to gravity, gravitational force between two masses and Newton’s law of gravitation, gravitational potential and escape velocity, electric Field and current electricity.

  • Lesson 10:Equilibrium of forces

Principle of moments, conditions for equilibrium of rigid bodies under the action of parallel and non-parallel forces, Centre of gravity and stability.

  • Lesson 11:Scalar and quantity

Principle of moments, conditions for equilibrium of rigid bodies under the action of parallel and non-parallel forces, Centre of gravity and stability.

  • Lesson 12:Work and power

Concept of work as a measure of energy transfer, concept of energy as capability to do work, Work done in a gravitational field, types of mechanical energy and types of mechanical energy.

  • Lesson 13:Sound and light

Sources of sound, transmission of sound waves, speed of sound in solid, liquid and air, characteristics of sound and forced vibration.

  • Lesson 14:Solution to past exam paper

Video solutions to past exam question papers for WASSCE, NECO, SSCE and JAMB.
